Tips for Buying Affordable Engagement Rings

Denise Sutton asked:

If you’re ready to pop the question, you want to find an engagement ring that demonstrates how much you really care for your bride to be. However, if you’re on a budget a cheap diamond engagement ring might seem impossible to come by.

Thankfully, the following tips are designed to help you stick to your budget while you shop for diamond engagement rings. Whether you choose a 14k or 18k gold band, platinum settings, or anything in between, you can find something affordable for your special someone.

The 4 “C’s”

Prior to shopping, it’s important to research what makes a quality diamond. Deciding to purchase a ring solely on price isn’t the way to go, and the price of a diamond ring means very little unless you understand the 4 “C’s” of diamond quality.

The four “C’s” consist of color, cut, clarity, and carat size. These components are very important in determining a diamond’s quality, but they can show you that a cheap diamond doesn’t necessarily mean it’s worthless.
Granted, an engagement ring that’s 14k gold will cost considerably less than a band that’s set in 18K Gold. Similarly, the larger the carat size, the more money you can expect to shell out towards a fitting ring.

Saving Money on Engagement Rings

Once you’ve educated yourself on the components of a high quality diamond, it’s time to figure out how you’re going to find a ring that still retains its quality.

There are several places you can search for without breaking the bank. First and foremost, you can choose to use a family ring as an engagement ring, which will eliminate any major costs right from the start.

However, if that isn’t an option for you, there are several other places to search for cheap yet high quality diamond engagement rings. For example, consider purchasing a ring from an antique store or pawn shop. This might sound a little odd, but you might be surprised at what you can find if you only take the time to look!

You could also search through jewelry classified ads and find a ring that will suit your needs – you can always have the stone reset, if you prefer. Finally, you might also want to consider purchasing a ring that has several small stones in the setting rather than one large stone. You’ll save money this way, and still have an affordable diamond engagement ring for your bride to be.

Once you learn what makes a high quality diamond and how to comparison shop for the best price, you’ll be able to find a “cheap” diamond engagement ring she’ll love – without breaking the bank.

Useful Tips For Purchasing Diamond Engagement Rings

Richard Nicholson asked:

Diamonds are girl’s best friend. Diamond engagement rings are available in wide range of designs, cuts, shapes, and stones. Amongst all sorts of stones used in engagement rings, diamonds are the most beautiful and precious ones. Their sparkle really has power to win woman’s heart. One can find amazing collection of diamond rings out there.

Diamond engagement rings lie close to the heart for any bride to be. If an engagement ring has more than one diamond, the effect is even more. Diamonds rings convey a message of love and harmony to your beloved. It is indeed a romantic gesture.

But when it comes to buying a diamond ring, are you able to buy the right diamond ring? Unhappily, most of the answer is in negative. This is a common mistake that helps crooks to sell imitation and fake diamonds to innocent customers. Usually, there are four elements well known as four Cs that determines the quality of diamond. They are cut, color, carat, and clarity. It is advisable to have a diamond examiner or appraiser at your side while visiting diamond jewellery store.

The very first thing that you need to consider while checking a diamond is to bring it under phosphorescent lights or sunlight to check its color quality. Halogen lamps create delusions and you will not be able to verify the right color of a diamond that you wish to buy.

Proportionally cut diamonds at the perfect angle radiate light brightly through the different angles of the stone. In some stones, air pocket and impurities obstruct clarity. Check properly for improper cuts and clarity lessening properties of the diamond. And the last factor among Cs is Carat size. Some diamond may be larger with small carat size and some may smaller with large carat size therefore, you should be careful about carat size as well.

Last but not least, please obtain all the documents related to diamond engagement ring you are purchasing because in some cases issues will rise after the purchase. Certified diamonds offers wide range of engagement diamond rings with uncompromising standards of quality and elegance. Every diamond ring a masterpiece and created with passion and guaranteed to be handcrafted in the studio of certified diamonds.

Design Trends: Diamond Engagement Rings

John Pollard asked:

From the grace of halo to the sophistication of micro pave, design trends in diamond engagement rings and wedding band settings are changing, reflecting today’s busy lifestyles. Ergonomic designs reign supreme in today’s market, no longer does pure panache determine the design that leads to ‘I Do.’

“Some brides prefer an ergonomic design that can comfortably be worn day in and day out,” says Brian Gavin, Executive Vice President of Whiteflash.com known as Brian the Cutter. “Others look for added style in an intricate or trendy setting; which, unfortunately, can be limiting when it comes everyday wear,” adds BrianGavin. Whiteflash.com is an e-jewelry boutique specializing in Hearts & Arrows diamonds and custom-designed engagement rings.

Here’s a peek at the up-and-coming trends in engagement rings according to the boutique’s jewelry designers:

Myth: solitaires stand tall

Not true of today’s diamond solitaire settings, says Gavin. “Solitaire settings are traditionally upswept, raising the diamond to make a very bold statement,” he adds. “However, people are also choosing settings where the center diamond sits down low, creating a look that is extremely elegant and also ergonomic.” With the diamond down in the setting, brides-to-be are able to wear the engagement ring in everyday work and play situations long after they say their “I Do’s.

Halos make a comeback

The likely reason for that comeback, according to Gavin, is that the halo-style diamond engagement ring makes the center diamond appear larger than it really is. “And the appearance of a high carat weight in the center stone is extremely important for many who are headed to the altar,” says Brian Gavin. Whiteflash.com has introduced several halo designs to its line of diamond engagement rings in the past year, including one with beaded diamonds along the shank as well as around the center stone, Increased sales prove the design’s resurgence and staying power.

A toast to the ‘Champagne’ setting

One design stunning even to the most fashion-savvy is the diamond ‘Champagne’ setting. “Those who desire this setting know exactly what they’re looking for…and that’s something unique,” says Gavin. “The Champagne style of setting has an unmistakable following.” The succesfull creative design team consisting of Brian Gavin and Frieder Lauer at Whiteflash.com deserve a toast of the bubbly for their interpretation of the Champagne-style bubble design in their U-prong Champagne engagement ring…among others.

Gavin says the company’s Champagne fashions have produced a great deal of spin-off custom-design work, much of which incorporates Whiteflash.com’s exclusive A Cut Above (ACA) melee diamonds. “The design of the Champagne diamond setting intermixes several components…it’s these combined features that really draw[s] people to it,” he says.

“Often people ask us to replicate one aspect or another of the Champagne design into a custom project, and of course we don’t hesitate to do so.” According to Gavin, the U-Prong, domed shank and accent diamonds are examples of features that can be applied to any custom piece. “Our ‘A Cut Above’ (ACA) melee diamonds have been adopted into thousands of projects, and are a stunning complement to any setting style,” comments Gavin.

Delicate pave and micro-pave designs

The old debate: Delicate versus complex, which is better? According to the designers at Whiteflash.com, this season the style leans more heavily towards delicacy rather than complexity.

The diamond pave setting is widely admired for its refinement. To give the setting its simplistic, yet exquisite appearance, beads of metal are raised to create secure channels where the diamonds sit securely in the ring. According to the craftsmen at Whiteflash.com, the raised metal of the band (or ring) is used to create the tiny prongs that hold the petite diamonds in place.

Center stage: Eternity bands

The pave and micro pave diamond engagement rings come into play when customers are looking at smaller diamond settings like the eternity band. According to Gavin – who is also a fifth-generation cutter from the world’s largest diamond center (South Africa) – there has been a recent push for smaller diamonds in settings. “In some cases even solitaire engagement rings are being replaced with semi, and even full diamond eternity bands,” he says. The trend is likely a response to the aforementioned movement towards dainty-looking styles and those that offer daily wear. Eternity bands traditionally are set with diamonds anywhere from one to three points (carats).

Brides trade up

The ‘trading-up’ trend will never fade into obscurity. “We’ve found that it makes a difference in the design process if the bride-to-be is involved up front,” says Gavin. “If the groom chooses to go it alone, he typically gravitates toward a simple design with a smaller-than-desired diamond. And what happens next? The bride-to-be upgrades the size of her diamonds, even adding side stones, and looks for a setting more suited to their tastes.”

‘Trading up’ need not always be done up front. Many couples consider upgrades for important milestones like anniversaries, birthdays and holidays. “While her diamond engagement ring was [current] as a newlywed, many years later she might change or modify her setting to reflect transition in her own life or to keep up with current jewelry trends,” says Gavin. “Even if she keeps the setting forever, there is a chance that down the road she may require a larger diamond. We have many repeat customers who upgrade their diamonds with us,” he finishes.

Whiteflash.com anticipates change as a constant and has made it simple for customers to upgrade with a unique guarantee: Every certified diamond sold at Whiteflash.com comes with a lifetime trade-up option. The company will accept the return of any original purchase and extend full credit in the amount of the original purchase price. The credit can be used to purchase a different diamond.

“Marriage is a lifetime commitment,” Gavin says. “When you choose Whiteflash.com, we’ll be there for a lifetime with you.”

Diamond Engagement Rings – the Choice is Yours!

David Fox asked:

Whatever the decision may be, it should not be taken lightly. The act of giving such a ring highlights the occasion on which it is given and therefore should match, or as close to as possible, the expectations of recipient. After all, this momentous gift is one that should, all things being well, last forever!

Diamond engagement rings are sold across the globe and therefore the choice for consumers is monumental. Diamonds are one of the prettiest and hardest substances in the world and therefore they can be extremely expensive. Many high street retailers stock these rings in various shapes and sizes as do a host of internet retailers coming into their own.

Diamond Engagement Rings

The nicest ring I’ve seen so far on my travels was at the Ernest Jones store in Kings Road, Chelsea. Unfortunately this store was recently closed for reasons communicated to me as recurring attempts of theft due to the significance of certain items sold in store. However, I have been told the ring – an 18ct white gold ruby and quarter carat diamond ring http://www.ernestjones.co.uk/webstore/browse/No/24/N/109+115/?Ntt=diamond+engagement+ring&Ntk=PRIMARY – is still available on the Ernest Jones website.

The notion of giving your loved one a diamond ring as a symbol for love and commitment originated in the 15th Century when Archduke Maximillian gave Mary of Burgundy a diamond ring for none other than their engagement. This was noted by many at the time and as the years went on it became a familiar act. As centuries progressed and times moved forward more and more people followed suit and now today, whether it be prince or pauper, this notion has continued.

Engagement Ring Enthusiasm

Roger Glass asked:

When someone announces that they got engaged, don’t most people, especially ones you know, excitedly congratulate you and ask to see your ring?  Did engagement rings lose their fascination?  I think it must have because that’s what happened to me.  At least, I think maybe it happened to me because when I talk to people about it, they seem to think differently.  Anyway, I recently got engaged – yay, I’m so happy!  When I made the announcement to my close friends, they seemed happy for me too, maybe not overly excited, but happy.  I usually thought at this point, people would grab my left hand to see my ring, but no one really did.  No one really asked to even see my ring.  Well, I’m exaggerating.  A couple of them did as well as my immediate family, but not even some of my close cousins asked.  I was a little shocked, maybe even a little hurt.  I wanted to show off my ring, not because I’m a showy person, but because I guess that is what I expected.  Plus, my fiancé spent a lot of time in choosing my ring after looking at so many diamond engagement rings, and I know he’s proud that he was able to even pick a ring on his own.  Hmmm, I wonder where I even got this notion of how people, women especially, typically act during engagement announcements.  I blame the movies and TV.  I also think and observe that other people generally ask to see the ring just because we’re all curious, and I know that I excitedly ask to see my girlfriends’ engagement rings.  So why did I get a different reaction?

I hope that I don’t seem whiny or anything like that.  I guess the lack of reaction seems like people aren’t that excited about my future wedding or really happy for me.  But is that really the case, or is it all in my head?  I do feel that the economic situation changed people’s emotions, made them seem more cautious and subdued and less celebratory, so maybe this occasion affected their reactions.  Or maybe they were too busy at the time to ask to see my ring or had other things on their minds that they need to take care of.  Or maybe it’s because it gets tiring with so many other people getting married – I’m one of the last ones in my circle of friends and co-workers to be married.  I don’t know.

I asked my sister what could be the case.  She said to not think about this any more because I have more important things to do in my life, such as my job, fiancé, and, most of all, my wedding.  My sister said that I have a lot of work ahead of me in terms of wedding planning, and I need to start now.  I’m getting married in eleven months, and I didn’t start yet.  And she’s right.  I have to stop worrying about other people’s reactions to my ring.  Who knows what could be the reason.  I’m just happy that I have a great fiancé who decided that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me.

Engagement Rings: Make Your Partner to Feel Top of the World

Frank Luca asked:

The best way to buy a perfect engagement ring is to know more and more about your partner choice and her style. And, the fantastic way to look for an engagement ring is online jewelry store. You will certainly find wide variety of designs in many different styles and combinations. Plus, it is no longer necessary to buy what is presented to you. Many online retailers allow you to choose an engagement ring of your ideal specifications, to be made into your perfect ring. Due to the lower overheads many online retailers have, they can often afford to produce these engagement rings at much lower prices than are available on the high street.

The other best thing is that online jewelry store offers every type of engagement ring from simple engagement rings to diamond engagement rings and antique engagement rings to promise engagement rings. On these stores, you can also customize your engagement ring as well. The entire process is quite simple. Select the diamond that you want to stud on the ring. Create your innovative designs by choosing the ring setting and metal which would be perfectly suitable for your loved one. You can also choose different metals for your ring setting like platinum, yellow gold and white gold.

If you are looking for diamond engagement ring, then a whole range of fancy shaped diamonds are available on the online stores for engagement rings including the princess cut, emerald cut, marquise cut, heart shape, pear shape and oval cut. It is a matter of preference which diamond to choose. In terms of cost, many fancy shapes are less expensive than round brilliant cut diamonds. Two diamonds of the same colour, clarity and weight can often vary in price because of other characteristics. One of these is the cut. A well cut diamond, nicely proportioned will cost more than a poorly cut diamond and will handle the light differently producing more fire.

Thus, choice is yours. There are various hottest trends involve rings that are not diamond-based, but display a variety of gemstones like rubies, emeralds, pearls, sapphires, and blue topaz. Since engagement rings are not only a Western or American tradition, other countries such as Japan, Ireland, Germany and Sweden have their own popular styles. Go to the online stores and buy an engagement ring that gives you and your partner intense joy, excitement and satisfaction.
